Lakeside Mountains
Sunday I had a little time on my hands so I decided to check out a place I'd read about online in an old Survey Notes publication. It mentioned some fossils around the Delle area in Tooele County. I plugged some coordinates into the GPS, filled the Jeep up with gas and headed out. I studied Google earth before I went, and with the Topo maps on the GPS I felt confident I could find the area with no problems. About 25 miles down I-80, I reached the Delle exit, and proceded onto the frontage road, where an adjacent dirt road would take me north towards the destination. It is hard to get lost with a GPS and some knowledge of the area, so I made it to my destination with no problems. Once I arrived I found I wasn't the only one who was searching for ancient treasures. A family from Grantsville had read an article in the Tooele transcript a few weeks earlier mentioning the same site and came out as well. It was a fun trip, and it only made me want to explore the area more when I have more time. I know there are some very interesting things to see north of I-80 in the Desert.
