Silver City

The sunshine mine discovery in 1869 led to the creation of Silver City, named after the rich deposits of silver in dragon canyon.  Silver City had a stage line, mail run, and even a branch of the Deseret Telegraph.  Silver City's time in the sun was short lived however, and after several reincarnations, was finally deserted in the early 1930's.  The main foundations you see just off the highway are that of the huge smelter.  It was eventually dismantled and moved to Murray where it continued to operate for a number of years.  There are numerous other foundations all around the flat if one desires to take a walk through the sage.
